Radon exposure is responsible for approximately 21,000 deaths in the U.S. and 3,000 deaths in Canada each year. Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers and the #2 cause of lung cancer after smoking.
Don’t let a 2-day test decide your home’s safety. Health Canada recommends long-term radon testing for at least 3 months to accurately assess your home’s average radon level. Choose Radtrak for a reliable long-term measurement of radon in your home.

Why Choose Long-Term Testing?
It’s the only test that reveals the true radon levels you live with every day—so you can take action with confidence.
Short-term tests can swing with weather and open windows, while Radtrak measures over 3–12 months to reveal the true radon exposure you live with every day in your home.

Radtrak is more expensive than a traditional charcoal test because it delivers far greater accuracy and reliability. Charcoal tests measure radon for only 2–7 days and are easily affected by short-term weather. Radtrak³ uses advanced alpha-track technology to measure over 90–365 days, providing an accurate picture of your true radon levels.
This extremely accurate test will take into account all of the daily fluctuations in radon levels and provide a true average concentration, minimizing the potential for a false high, or worse yet, a false low reported result.

The number of detectors you need for your home or workplace will depend on how big the area is and how much time people will be spending in each area. If a person spends more than four to six hours a day in any given area, consider placing a detector nearby. Because areas under your home are normally the first place radon gas will accumulate, you should consider placing one radon detector for every 2000 uninterrupted square feet, and in frequently occupied rooms.
It is recommended that all ground contacting living areas should be tested as frequently as possible. Placing detectors in your basement is recommended, especially if you have a family room or other living area where your family frequently spends their time. You should test above every type of foundation in your home (ie., basements, crawlspaces and slabs).
Bedrooms, home offices and other family living areas of particular concern should also have radon detectors. Because you spend extended periods of time in these rooms, you are more likely to inhale radon. Additionally, these rooms often have closed doors which can cause the radon levels to be higher.
Radon gas is odorless and there is no way for you to see or smell the gas and a detector is the best way to tell if radon gas is present. Any area of your home that your family uses on a regular basis should have their own dedicated radon detectors.
